As the nation paid tributes to freedom fighters on the
celebrations of 69th year of independence, Progressive English
School marked its celebrations with pomp and glory. The celebrations were
conducted under the auspices of social club. The formal celebrations commenced
at 8.30 a.m. The function was blessed eith the benign presence of the chairman –
Wadihuda Group of Institutions, V.K Hamza Abbas who hoisted the flag
accompanied by the flag song by the school choir. In fact Progressive is very
fortunate to have the chairman who made his first public appearance after a
brief interval due to ill health. The chief guest of the day prof. N. Padmanabhan,
(HoD, Department of History, Madyi Co-oparative Collage) while speaking on the occasion,
he reminisced the sacrifices of all great souls of India and remind our ethical
obligations to safeguard the freedom gained after a hard toil. School Principal
in his presidential address greeted the students on this happy occasion and
saluted the martyrs of our country. The function was enriched by the gracious presence
of General Secretary Of the Trust A. Muhammed Kunhi and PTA President Mahamood
Vadikkal who greeted the students. The school leader Waseem welcomed the
gathering and Shuhaib T.K (Student Editor) delivered the vote of thanks.
To make the celebrations a memorable one various programmes
were conducted in the school auditorium. In the inter squad patriotic song competition
Sahyadri squad won the first prize followed by Satpura and Vindya in second and
third positions respectively. The fancy dress of greaten of India drew the
appreciation of the crowd for the spectacular show. Sangeetha Shilpam presented
by the students threw an insight into woes of INDIA. After the programme the
students relished the Payasam served in the classrooms. No doubt this day would
remain a memorable one in our heart.
